Journals
Journals | Writing to Explore and Reflect
Over the course of the year, students will regularly write on a variety of topics. Students will compose drafts in class in response to given prompts and conference with peers. Depending on what students choose to write, these journals may become the first draft of some of their longer written compostiions!
Book Clubs
Book Clubs | Finding Your Genre
All students will be part of a book club, for which they should bring their book every day. We will have independent reading time throughout the week as well as "chat and chew" days devoted to discussing books with our peers.
Grammar & Vocabulary
Grammar and Vocabulary | Revising for Growth
Students will work throughout the year to expand their vocabulary and improve their grammar. Students will practice these skills in the a variety of writing assignments. Additionally, students will participate in engaging activities to strengthen their skills in these areas and prepare for quizzes regarding the material.
